The government has stated that it is not planning to ban plastic bottles as earlier reported.

Environment Principal Secretary Charles Sunkuli says the ministry will work with relevant stakeholders to help curb plastic bottles waste.

Sunkuli says the National Environment Authority Management will be tasked with providing guidelines and policies that will put solid waste management in order by April.

He also noted that there has been an 80 percent improvement since the implementation of ban of plastic carrier bags.

He however expressed his disappointment that there are some regions within the country that still use plastic carries bags.
