The CAS announced that in the last 24 hours Kenya has reported seven new Covid-19 cases bringing the country’s total number to 179.

The seven cases are from a cluster of  305 samples tested in the last 24 hours. All seven are Kenyans who have had a travel history.

Out of the seven four are female while the remaining three are male. Five of these are from Nairobi, one from Mombasa and one from Uasin Gishu.

The CAS also revealed that two additional patients have been discharged after they recovered from the disease.

49 out of the 179 cases reported in the country so far are aged between 16 and 29 years.

The CAS said all private testing facilities are required to share their results with the Ministry of Health for monitoring purposes.

“Most of our positive cases are from quarantine. We have a set down criteria to ensure that we can know which centers are following rules,” she said.
