Gor Mahia once again stunned AFC Leopards in the meeting between the two Kenyan Premier league giants and arch rivals at the iconic Kasarani Stadium on Sunday .
Jacques Tuyisenge put the defending champions ahead on the 22nd minute mark following a feeble back pass from Salim Abdalla that allowed the Rwandese finisher to take an easiest task of curling home a beauty above clueless Leopards’ shot stopper Owade.
On the other hand, Ingwe looked lively with dominance in the midfield play and promising runs from the wings.
The fine play from Rodolfo Zapata’s men persisted until in the dying minutes of the first half when Whyvonne Isuza found the back of the net by a beauty bicycle kick recording his tenth goal of the season and restoring parity for the Leopards.
The mouthwatering match between the two premier league bigwigs became entertaining right in the beginning of the second half with dangerous strikes witnessed from both ends.
This did not take long until in the 53 minute when George Blackberry showcased a moment of magic once again driving a low shot past Owade following a lose ball from a corner kick delivered by Francis Kahata handing K’galo their second goal of the match.
AFC Leopards however continued with the fight chasing their equaliser but Gor looked even more disciplined in their defending keeping Ingwe’s strikers at bay in the better part of the second half.
The scoreline remained unchanged up to the referee’s final whistles and thus the results see Gor mahia extend their unbeaten run in the league to 20 matches and cementing their position at the summit of the table with 52 points and 12 adrift second placed Sofapaka .
Meanwhile, Leopards remain 5th on the log with 36 points and 16 behind their bitter rivals Gor Mahia.
