A section of Githurai residents has resorted to demolish their illegal structures to avoid losses during demolitions by the Nairobi County Government.

Edwin Njonjo a member of the youth group conducting the demolitions say the structures they are currently demolishing are those that have been earmarked for demolitions.

Njonjo says while they support the demolition of illegal structures, he hopes that proper mechanisms will be put in place to support those affected by the demolitions.

Njpnjo is now appealing to Githurai residents to stay calm over the demolitions and allow development in the area.

Last Saturday section of the residents held a protest against the demolitions in the area.
