Residents of the Githurai on Tuesday briefly held on to two bodies they had retrieved from an accident scene in protest of police laxity to respond to emergencies.

The residents who blocked the Thika Super Highway during protests accused the police of slow response to an accident accident that occurred on Monday night that reportedly killed six people.

The accident occurred when a Githurai 45 matatu veered off  into a dam near the highway.

Divers from the area retrieved the matatu and some of the passengers who had survived the accident.

Police were forced to disperse them using teargas.
