The High Court has awarded Sh4 million damages to a schoolgirl who was stripped by police as they searched for drugs two years ago.

The girl was among a group of students whose bus was intercepted by police on Karatina- Nairobi Road on August 5, 2015.

The 45 students from different schools were travelling home to Nairobi, for August holidays.

People who saw them at Kibirigwi trading centre in Nyeri say they were drunk and had been having sex and smoking bhang in the bus, according

The court said it was wrong for two female officers to search the girl in front of other students and male officers.

Although Judge Mativo said it was difficult to quantify the amount to be paid to the girl, Sh4 million would be reasonable.
