Former Nyeri governor Nderitu Gachagua has been today laid to rest at his Hiriga farm Mathira West in Nyeri county.
Gachagua’s burial was graced by President Uhuru Kenyata, Deputy president William Ruto, former president Mwai Kibaki, ,ODM leader Raila Odinga among other high profile leaders.
Speaking at the event President Uhuru Kenyatta asked Nyeri political leaders to stop in-fighting and support projects initiated by Gachaguas’ government .
President further noted Gachaguas’ contribution to agricultural sector mainly by initiating profitable prices on tea and coffe exports.
Odm leader Raila Odinga on the hand termed Gachagua as a brave leader who stood firm to defend devolution at his time in office as Nyeri’s first governor.
Few members of the county assembly of Nyeri attended the burial with others skipping the event citing insecurity.
