Former National Lands Commission Chairman Muhammad Swazuri, has been arrested alongside 23 other former officials of the commission.
The Detectives from the Ethics and Anti Corruption Commission (EACC) arrested Swazuri and his former colleagues from their homes on Wednesday Morning.
The Directorate of Public Prosecution has stated that they will be charged with with abuse of office, conspiracy to commit economic crimes, money laundering among other charges.
Their arrests were occasioned by illegal compensation of land which was acquired by the commission in the construction of a road in Mombasa
The land belonging to Tornado Carriers Limited was initially valued at Sh34,501,110 in 2015 but the commission ended up paying Sh109,769,363 after Dr Swazuri ordered a second valuation.
