Nairobi county assembly has rejected the nomination of ex- member of parliament Sonia Birdi for the position of CEC Environment.
In the report majority leader Abdi Guyo noted that Birdi is incompetent and does not have any relevant skills and capacity to hold the environment docket.
According to the report Birdi lacks basic environmental knowledge in the environment sector and during vetting her integrity was also questioned.
‘‘Birdi could not answer simple question like what is environment? she does not know where Nairobi River begins and where its ends, the same Birdi is very temperamental and this was seen during her vetting.’’ Guyo told the House.
Guyo’s sentiments were echoed by the minority whip Peter Imwatok who was also disappointed by how Birdi answered questions before the vetting panel.
‘‘She was completely arrogant,she does not have a degree certificate claiming that she has an OB number for the same from Europe ,where on earth should we accept that,how can you do masters without a degree we cant allow that.’’ Imwatok said.
Meanwhile the report also indicated that other nominees Lucia Mulwa for Education post,Pauline Kahiga Public Service Management and Winfred Gathangu for Finance and Economic docket impressed and that they are equal to the task.
The report has been adopted by the assembly and this means governor Sonko now has three new CECs in his cabinet.
Assembly acting speaker Chege Mwaura on the other hand applauded the vetting panel for performing their mandate diligently.
He chaired the vetting panel.
