Eastleigh Business Community shuts down shops in fight against COVID-19
The Eastleigh Business Community has shut down all businesses operations in the area until further notice as a means of combating the spread of the novel coronavirus.
Eastleigh Business owners’ Secretary General Omar Hussein, said the move is aimed at avoiding panic shopping by the residents which would lead to disregarding of government directives on social distancing.
“This is necessary since coronavirus is real and most of the people in the malls are not following the regulations set up by the government,” said Hussein.
Hussein asked the government to fumigate the area as has been done at City Market and Gikomba Market and to also begin garbage collection in the area.
The business owners are now asking Eastleigh residents to stay home to curb the spread of the deadly pandemic.
