EALA MP Simon Mbugua was on Wednesday charged with robbery with violence after he was linked to the assault on former NCBDA Chairman Timothy Muriuki.
Mbugua pleaded not guilty to the charges when he appeared before Senior Principal Magistrate Martha Mutuke.
The legislator, who spent the night at Central Police Station in Nairobi, has been remanded pending his bail ruling at 2pm.
Police have since placed a 500,000 bounty on each of the five suspects,who have since gone into hiding.
Pictures doing rounds on social media however showed one of the men apparently at a wedding with Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko.
No arrests have been made so far.
