There was drama at Lang’ata Police station on Tuesday evening after soldiers stormed the station demanding for the release of one of their colleagues.

The five soldiers allegedly engaged officers at the station in a fist fight as they demanded that their colleague who had been arrested on assault charges be released.

During the confrontation, one officer was forced to fire in the air as police sought reinforcement to contain the soldiers who were not armed.

The arrested soldier had been involved in a brawl with a traffic officer along Kitengela Road before he was arrested and detained at the Lang’ata police station.

The soldier had accused the traffic police officer of causing a traffic snarl up on the road.

The five soldiers were later subdued and handed over to the military police.
