Busia Governor Sospeter Ojaamong is facing imminent arrest after the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) has approved his prosecution over alleged abuse of office.
DPP Noordin Haji, is seeking the arrest of Ojaamong alongside nine other county staff are accused of irregular acquisition of integrated solid waste management services in the county.
DPP Haji further indicated that the Governor flouted procurement procedures leading to the loss of at least 20 million shillings.
The Ethics and Anti Corruption Commission (EACC) had accused the governor of single sourcing a company registered under the name Madam R Ltd, which was awarded a tender for waste management.
The Governor however sought to absolve himself from blame, accusing the anti-graft body of political witch-hunt.
