The Kenya Medical Practitioners, Pharmacists and Dentists Union (KMPDU) has vowed that its members would carry on with the strike despite the court declaring the strike illegal.
KMPDU Secretary General Ouma Oluga stated that they will take nothing less than implementing the CBA agreement the government had signed in 2013.
“Taking us to court are diversionary tactics used by the government to intimidate us, but we remain unbowed,” stated Oluga.
Earlier on Labour Relations court has declared the doctors strike illegal and ordered them to resume work immediately.
The court directed union officials to call off the strike that began last Monday, noting paralysed operations have led to the deaths of about 20 people.
Justice Hellen Wasilwa had earlier on threatened not to hear the doctors’ case before her until the industrial action is called off.
