Education Officers in Mathare Constituency have finally shut down a school in Mathare whose safety had caused an uproar among parents.
Jessi Primary School which has two storeys built using dilapidated iron sheets was shut down on Sunday after it posed a safety risk to the pupils.
A section of the are residents expressed a sigh of relief following the closure of the school.
The residents however asked the Ministry of Education to improve the status of the schools in the area.
Some however condemned the closure of the school saying their children school there for lack of a better option.
Jessi Primary is one of the three primary schools that have been shut down in Mathare Constituency only.
Cabinet Secretary for Education Professor George Magoha has so far dispatched a special team of 1,500 Education Officer to inspect schools and shut down those in poor conditions.
The crackdown emerged following the death of seven pupils at Precious Talents Primary School in Dagoretti South Constituency.
