Dandora, Eastleigh record cases of COVID-19
Kenya has recorded 16 new cases of the novel COVID-19 bringing the total number of confirmed cases of the disease in the country to 336.
The 16 are out of a cluster of a total 946 samples across 12 counties that were tested in the last 24 hours.
Speaking during the daily briefing at Afya House, health CAS Rashid Aman said the new cases, 11 were in Nairobi and five in Mombasa.
In the last 24 hours we have tested 946 samples across 12 counties, this brings to 16,438 the total number of tests conducted so far.
“These 16 positive were picked out from among communities by our surveillance teams. Of these, 11 are from Nairobi and 5 from Mombasa,” CAS Rashid said
The 11 cases found in Nairobi were from the following neighborhoods: Dandora – 5, City Park – 2, Eastleigh – 1, Parklands – 2 and Pipeline – 1
In the last 24 hours, five patients were also discharged, bringing the total number of recoveries to 94 from the previous 89 announced on Thursday.
The ministry also launched nutrition guidelines together with a one million gardens campaign in collaboration with Nyumba Kumi to encourage Kenyans to set up kitchen gardens.
CAS Aman also said those with non-communicable dieases like heart condition or cancer, need to take extra precaution.
