Members of the opposition Nairobi county assembly have accused governor Mike Sonko for what they term as ‘not taking county in the right direction and firing of county officials without tangible reasons’.
Led by Minority Whip Peter Jateso Imwatok and his Kilimani counter part Moses Ogeto the members said the governor is using the Pumwani saga to divert public attention from the 14 day ultimatum that he was given by the assembly to fix the deputy governor post.
According to them their plan to impeach Sonko is on course and Nairobi will not be the same as from next week Tuesday.
‘‘We agreed as the assembly that we will not retreat in championing for the rights of Nairobians and we will impeach him if he fails to honor what we asked him to do,’’ Imwatok said.
They have also criticized the manner in which the governor is firing his staff saying he is abusing his office and that the move has crippled the county operations.
The latest officers to be fired are health CEC Veska Kangogo ,County secretary Peter Kariuki, county legal advisor Lydia Kwamboka and Health chief officer Jimale Mahat.
‘‘There is no Health CEC he was sacked,Chief officer for health has been sacked and even Director at Pumwani how do you run such a system?’’ He added.
Sonko is currently working with only five ministers out of ten.
