Coronavirus: Bars in Kariobangi North defy new regulations open all night
Residents of Nairobi’s Kariobangi North area have been advised against opening bars and holding other social gatherings in adherence to the government’s instructions made yesterday in a bid to curb the spread of coronavirus in Kenya.
A spot check conducted by Ghetto Radio that revealed bars at Kariobangi’s Kanyama stage still in operation despite the warning by Security Principle Secretary Karanja Kibicho.
“The virus is still very far from Kariobangi, the fact that it is in Kenya right now does not mean that it will get to Kariobangi today,” said one reveler.
Area residents specifically pointed out Tourist Bar as one of the notorious bars that flouted the rule that took effect at midnight.
“Tourist bar has played music the whole night, we do not know if they will comply so we appeal to area chief to quickly reign in,” said a resident.
Kibicho on Sunday asked chiefs and their assistants to ensure that the regulation is effected failure to which they face the law.
This is in a bid to contain the deadly coronavirus.
