Coca-Cola has entered into a three year partnership with the Kenya Secondary School Sports Association (KSSSA) to hold the 2016 U-17 regional tournaments.
The regional tournaments will be held in seven regions across the Country that includes metropolitan,Garissa North,Eastern, Coast,Highlands,Arbadares,Mau,Nzoia and Lake regions.
Winners from these regions will qualify for the National Championships that will take place in Embu in June.
The past years’ international training camps have seen players visit and train Pretoria,South Africa as well as Chelsea football Club’s training grounds in London,Cobmam training facility,where the players had an opportunity to visit the Stamford Bridge Stadium for a live match.
Last year two youngsters from last year’s Copa-Cola championships traveled to Berlin,Germany for a six-day Copa Coca Cola International camp at the prestigious Lindow sports Academy.
KSSSA Secretary General David Ngugi said the tournament will only be open to students in Form One and Two, but who are not older than 16 years.
“This will be a good opportunity for schools to maximize on talents of players within the set age bracket. The tournament will form part of our Term 2A games,” said Ngugi.
The Ministry of Education has organized the tournament to run alongside Term 2A Schools Games that include handball, rugby, netball and athletics.
Meanwhile,part of the National Squad,Seven Players and two officials in Guinea Bissau are a product of the Copa initiative.
