Tobbacco Control stakeholders now want the the government to properly enforce the ban of shisha to avoid the rising consumption of the illegal product in the market.

Joel Gitali, Chairman of the Kenya Tobacco Control Alliance says there is a worrying trend of laxity from the law enforcers in implementing the ban hence the continuing consumption of  shisha.

Speaking to Ghetto Radio, Gitali specifically mentioned Nairobi and Mombasa as some of the counties rampant for the violations of the ban.

Gitali has further urged the government to expedite the regularisation of the Shisha ban as instructed by the courts.

The High Court in July upheld the Shisha ban however with a condition that the Health Ministry regularises the ban in nine months in line with the Kenyan constitution.
