All Public service vehicles, must be ready to comply with the new set regulations on installation of New Speed Governors or else their work licenses be withdrawn.
The cabinet secretary for the ministry of Interior and coordination of National security Dr fred Matiang’i confirmed this earlier today.
This comes amidst the complains from different stake holders in the transport sector including vehicles body builders, Matatu owners Association and the transit good owners that the regulations are never consistent considering that the current speed governors in the matatus have not been exhausted in use.
The stakeholders are said that they are put to bare a lot of pressure from the ministry of transport as a way of complying to the new rules. They are not ready to for the shift to use the new and expensive speed governor, for the stakeholders have not been involved in the testing of the equipment.
Dr Matiang’I further added these new standardized equipment, will not only help in reducing road accidents but also will it help to track and and monitor movement of every single vehicle.
