Antonio Conte has revealed that he will correct the mistakes that saw him miss out on FA cup glory, last season.
Conte’s side lost 2-1 in the 2017 FA Cup final to Arsenal and will play Southampton in the 2018 semi-finals after beating Leicester 2-1 on Sunday.
Conte, who guided Chelsea to the Premier League title in 2016-17, said:
“We are able to reach the final and we want to change the result compared with last season.”
Alvaro Morata scored the opener for Chelsea before Jamie Vardy levelled the score before a charged crowd, at the King Power stadium, sending the game to extra time.
Pedro sealed the win for Chelsea when he headed in the winner. The goal is the Spaniards second, in 15 appearances.
The win will give the Italian coach some breathing space, after a rather dismal season that saw them get knocked out of the Champions League round of 16 by Barcelona.
The FA cup is the only silverware that is in Chelsea’s reach this season, however, they will have to go through Southampton and either Manchester United or Tottenham, who are in the alternate fixture.
Antonio Conte has been a victim of his own success. After a stellar first season that saw him win the Premier League title and reach the FA cup finals. However, he has been unable to replicate that form, this season.
A section of the fans has questioned his tactics and his tendencies of sidelining star players.
At the beginning of the season he sent Diego Costa a text message, telling him that he was no longer wanted at the club. His ongoing tiff with David Luiz has seen the Brazilian defender sit out majority of the matches this season.
Mitchy Batshuayi has also been shipped off Borussia Dortmund, where he has been a revelation.
A section of the fans have been calling for his ouster and many feel that the end of his tenure at the club is near.
