Chaos in Parliament as two senators exchange blows
There was chaos at the Senate on Wednesday as two nominated senators exchanged blows during the during the election of the Senate Health Committee.
The scuffle started moments after Narok Senator Ledama Ole Kina was declared the winner of the contested election that pitted him against nominated senator Mary Seneta.
The two,Beatrice Kwamboka and Mary Seneta, allegedly differed over the election of Narok Senator Ledama Ole Kina as deputy chairperson of the committee.
Drama started after Deputy Majority Whip Farhiya Ali was accused of forging the signature of Nominated Senator Millicent Omanga who was absent.
The alleged forgery triggered an altercation between Ms Kwamboka who is the Deputy Minority Whip and Senator Seneta with their war of words turning violent in seconds.
Speaking to journalists moments after the confrontation, Ole Kina said he was shocked by the happenings, barely two months after he was unceremoniously removed from the County Public and Investment Committee by his party – ODM.
“I was elected to chair the Senate County Public Accounts and Investment Committee (CPAIC )and was denied, now I have been elected vice chair Health Committee and now they are trying to frustrate me,” Senator Ledama said
