Central Bank Governor denies restricting issuance of new coins

Central Bank of Kenya governor Patrick Njoroge has denied that he directed bankers to cap the issuance of new coins to Sh100 per customer.

The governor through his twitter account, the allegations published by a local daily are false.

“Absolutely not true. There are no limits on the amount of coins distributed,” he said.

In December, President Uhuru Kenyatta and the governor unveiled the new generation coins that began circulating in 2018.
