The Central Bank Of Kenya says that 7,386,000 pieces of the old Ksh. 1000 notes were never returned.
CBK Governor Patrick Njoroge says that the money which is now worth Ksh. 7.4 Billion is now useless.
According to Njoroge CBK only received 209,661,000 pieces of the old Ksh 1000 notes.
Njoroge says CBK is planning to punch and shred the old Ksh. 1,000 notes into powder before disposition.
