Cancer champions undergoing chemotherapy today benefited from free wigs donated by a hair extensions manufacturing company known as darling Kenya.
The wigs were donated to the victims through the Kenya Cancer Association (KENCANSA) for cancer champions undergoing chemotherapy.
Ms. Grace Mugambi, KENCANSA Chief Executive Director appreciated the donations stating that wigs are a step towards reclaiming confidence and reasserting the place of cancer champions in their world.
She further states that cancer victims usually undergo discrimination especially when accessing services in the medical facilities and the initiation of the wigs will help the victims reclaim their self esteem.
The International Agency for Research on Cancer’s Globocan 2018 data shows women lead in new cancer cases with 28,688 getting the disease compared to 19,199 men, representing 56 per cent of total new cases.
