Burma Market hawkers are protesting an eviction notice issued to them asking them to vacate the premises before tomorrow.
The business people say that they have nowhere to go and that hygiene claims by the council officers are invalid.
The vendors who mostly sell matumbo and bones for soup say they have not been asked to produce any health documents and failed to do so.
Most of the victims are the youth who cannot afford the high stall fee.
They are now asking the local authorities to let them run business till mid morning hours as it is their sole source of livelihood insisting that they maintain high levels of hygiene.
