Boda Boda Riders Attacked, Injured By Police
Boda Boda Safety Association of Kenya has condemned an incident where some of the boda boda riders were recently stoned and injured at the Central police Station.
The association’s Chairman Kevin Mubadi says officers stoned them and took away their motorbikes.
Mubadi says the the act has painted the riders with bad image and that the police should bring to book the perpetrators.
More than 100 riders are currently in police custody following a police crackdown that started last week and 600 mortobikes confisctated the last three days.
‘‘Its true that a section of our rogue members stoned the police and took a mortobike , let the police do their investigations and take action against those who stoned the police.’’ He said.
Mubadi however, slammed the police for arresting those who are innocent and not connected with the incident.
‘’I want to ask OCPD Central to move with speed and release those who were arrested without any offence because we know they were acting out of anger,we cant have 600 mortobikes in Central Police Station .’’ He added.
Meanwhile Cityhall maintains that no boda boda will be allowed to operate within the CBD .
