Barcelona rejected Man Utd’s transfer bid for Ansu Fati

Fati first broke into the first team at Barca last season, scoring seven goals in 24 La Liga appearances, and he bagged a brace in the Catalan giant’s 4-0 win over Villarreal on Sunday.

The winger, who has also already won two caps for Spain, clearly has a big future ahead of him, and according to Catalunya Radio United made an ambitious attempt to sign the player before he committed to Barcelona by signing a new contract last week.

They claim the Red Devils saw their £136m offer rejected, and then attempted to activate Fati’s £154m release fee.

However, his new deal has seen that release fee increase to a staggering £363m, and it is clear that United’s chances of signing the player in the near future are now over.

Fati himself appears to be enjoying life at Barcelona, and there are high hopes that he can become a hugely important player for the club in the coming years if he can live up to his potential.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, meanwhile, is known to be desperate to add another attacking threat to his squad, but it is proving difficult, with Dortmund still unwilling to negotiate a deal under £100m for their No.1 target Jadon Sancho.

Manchester United are looking to plot their path back to the top.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has already brought in Donny van de Beek but Jadon Sancho remains Manchester United’s number one target.
