ARSENAL have reportedly with-held contract talks with Alexis Sanchez and Mesut Ozil until the summer.
The key Arsenal duo have under 15 months left of their current deals and the club risks allowing £75million worth of investment to leave for nothing.
Arsene Wenger says talks with Alexis Sanchez and Mesut Ozil are on hold but he fears his season could slide into further disarray if negotiations with his star duo continue to drag on.
The Under pressure manager was asked about the future of Chilean striker Alexis Sanchez and confirmed that at the moment there is no agreement reached. “At the moment we have not got an agreement. We have decided to focus on the end of the season and talk about it in the summer ,”Wenger confirmed.
He also touched on Ozil’s future at the club as some European power houses have Shown interests of acquiring the signature of the 2014 World Cup winner. “It is the same situation with Ozil because once you don’t find an agreement and it is not good so it is better you get it out and sit down in the summer,”
Wenger has been under-fire for failing to land a Premier League title since the famous 2004 Invincibles. The Frenchman remains unmoved by fans turning against him, after a plane carrying a ‘Wenger Out’ banner hovered above The Hawthorns on Saturday.
But he defended his time in charge and blamed the lack of trophies on the expensive move from Highbury to the Emirates.
He added: “I have guided this club through very difficult periods with very, very, very limited resources and I managed always to get the best out of the team and that is what I will do as long as I’m at Arsenal,” Wenger stated.
