Kenyans too were not pleased with Zeddy’s prank and Jasper’s sex jokes. In the prank, Zeddy ruthlessly insulted a fan who told her he hated her jokes, she used very crude words that annoyed the audience.
As if this wasn’t enough Jasper surfaced with a bicycle just to joke around ‘sex styles’ which was deemed offensive by some people!
To Mutua, and a large majority, this was wrong!
“The craze about use of vulgar, lewd and obscene jokes, stage names, lyrics and profanity has taken over our entertainment and media industry. Sexualised content fills our airwaves everyday. It’s time our artists thought about these things. The lie that obscenity and sex talk sells seems to be the mantra defining the content. This must stop. KFCB will do everything in our power to ensure clean content on our airwaves!” Mutua quoted on his Facebook Account.
Baring in mind what Churchill and NTV makes from this show, the latter had no choice but apologise for their controversial jokes that landed them into this mess in the first place despite having defended the show.
“When creativity is at it’s best, you’ll get all manner of things thrown along your path, to distract you, to instill fear, and to bring you down……. Jobs come and go, but TALENT and CREATIVITY is God given. Either way, everyone is entitled to their opinion. Asanta and Barakaaaaa #Churchillshow #creativity.” Churchill posted in defence.
To the shock of many, the apology was accepted but Mr. Mutua made it clear that a punishment must be suffered to avoid such in future.
” I have received a call from Mr. Daniel Ndambuki a.k.a Churchill this morning regarding the unfortunate episode of the Churchill Show last night. He has apologised and taken full responsibility and requested that I pull down my post on the same. I do so in good faith and in reciprocity for the mature manner in which he has handled the matter. I do so because I believe people make mistakes and learn from them. We all know the contribution of Mwalimu King’ang’i in developing talent in Kenya. We salute him for his outstanding contribution and hope that he will use last night’s blunder to rebrand and make Churchill Show the family program it’s supposed to be. All programs airing between 5am and 10pm should be suitable for family viewing. Churchill Show is not any other program. This has been the top stand-up comedy show in the region for years. It’s a family show that builds talent and brings laughter to our sitting rooms. To allow the pathetic adult jokes that have come to characterise it lately is unfortunate. While at a personal level I accept the apology the Board will pursue this matter to ensure the mistake is not repeated and will mete the necessary sanctions on the Show. Our message to you Churchill is simple: You are talented. You are a mentor to many. Mungu amekutoa mbali. Please don’t use your talent to corrupt the moral values of our children. Give us clean content. YOU DON’T HAVE TO BE OBSCENE TO BE POPULAR!
Linus Kakai (NTV), Dr. Harun Mwangi (Media Council of Kenya), Francis Wangusi (CA), Joe Mucheru – CS Ministry of ICT, Jackson Kosgei- Chairman KFCB, MOA, KUJ, Charles Kerich – Editors Guild of Kenya.”
And when the heat became too hot in the Kitchen, Mr. Mutua- who is never short of words- had this to say;
Social media has been awash with questions on what happened on Churchill Show on Sunday. Here is the story. Churchill has since apologized and promised to deal with his comedians. His commitment to the development of the industry is commendable and we hope to see a clean family show going forward. Churchill Show must not gain the notoriety of Maina Kageni and Mwalimu King’ang’i which is defined by sex talk during watershed hours contrary to the laws governing family suitability on programming. The program is rated PG and must therefore not have explicit scenes.”
This prompted Churchill to call on for comedy auditions with immediate effect!! Does this mean all the other comedians have been fired??? Akina MCA Tricky and Profesa Hamo???
Well, this is a developing story and we promise to keep you updated on the unfolds. Check out;
