Athletics coaches operating in Kenya both locals and foreigners have been directed by Athletics Kenya (AK) to register afresh with the federation not later than Wednesday 9, 2019.

According to a statement released to newsrooms the fresh registration is aimed at ensuring that all foreign coaches are registered, permitted and approved to deal with Athletes in the country, “This process will enable the Federation to have all Foreign Coaches registered, approved and licensed to coach Kenyan Athletes”, the statement states.

Over time there has been a consistent failure in doping tests by Kenyan athletes a menace the Federation is committed to clean by all means. “In recent times, Kenya has been displayed in both the local and International media for wrong reasons arising from athletes failing in doping tests among other sports evils”,

The registration process is expected to begin on the above stipulated date at 9:00 am at Athletics Kenya offices, Riadha house.

Coaches are required to present their licenses and other documents in person failure to which strict disciplinary actions will be taken “Failure to present oneself for this important exercise will force the Federation to work with other government agencies to have disciplinary action taken against them” the federation warns.

The Federation has however cautioned that no athlete will be cleared before being registered with the Federation and receipt of an Athlete Registration number.

The call for fresh registration comes days after the federation met and vetted a majority of its Athletes’ Representatives and managers and is expected to continue until all athletes are covered.
