Malindi MP Aisha Jumwa has sparked an online debate after a video of her turning a Christian hymn into a praise song for Deputy President William Ruto emerged online.
Speaking at a church function over the weekend, Jumwa gave the popular Swahili song ‘Hakuna wa kufanana na Yesu rendition saying, ‘Hakuna wa kufafana na Ruto’.
A section of online users have castigated Jumwa’s action describing it as blasphemous and a mock to God.
Among those who have faulted Jumwa include flamboyant City Lawyer Donald B Kipkorir saying Aisha blasphemed in turning the song into Ruto’s praise.
“Aisha Jumwa confessed to believing in sorcery … God says He will turn away from those that consult Mediums & Spirits … And Jesus said that one unforgivable sin is Blasphemy against the Holy Spirit … In replacing name of God with a politician in a Hymn, Aisha BLASPHEMED!” tweeted Donald Kipkorir
Others however found no fault to Jumwa said Raila’s supporters also once referred to him as Raila baba Raila Mwana, Raila Mtakatifu.
“Raila was once referred to Raila Baba, Raila Mwana na Raila Roho mtakatifu. Spare Aisha jumwa this debacle,” said @NdelevaGabriel.
