This year’s Africa’s Cup of Nation has been pushed forward for a week to allow for the celebration of the holy month of Ramadhan.

The continental championships were set to kick off on June 14th but now have been pushed to June 21st with the draw expected to be on April 12th in Egypt.

According to Mohamed Fadl from the Egyptian Football Association the organizers were requested to push the date to give a chance for players to rest after celebrating the Ramadhan

“The Confederation of African Football has officially informed us of the postponement (of the original dates)with the decision having been  taken following requests from the Maghreb countries of Morocco, Tunisia and Algeria who want their players to have time to rest after the end of Ramadan.”said Fadl

Kenyan national team Harambee Stars have already secured their place in the continental show piece having garnered seven points in the group stage with a match to spare.
