Kenyans on Wednesday woke up to the news of a tragic road crash involving a bus that claimed 50 lives as at 9:30 am. According to eyewitnesses, the accident happened at 4 am. It occurred at Fort Ternan Tunnel area, a black spot on the Londiani-Muhoroni road.
The passenger bus belongs to Western Cross Express Co. Limited, but its operational name is Home Boyz.

Kericho County police commander James Mugera said the injured were rushed to hospitals in Muhoroni and Kericho.

It is reported that the bus was going downhill when it hit a guardrail and rolled.

Inspector General of Police Joseph Boinett said police are looking for the owner of the bus.

He said the bus lacked a licence to operate at night. He said the owner and sacco officials will be charged for violating rules.
