The 41st edition of the Kothbiro tournament suffered a setback after the CEO Stephen Ogos suffered a shot illness that led to his untimely death.

Ogos popularly known to his friends as Besh had successfully ran the tournament through the group stages after he was handed the mantle of the CEO in this year’s edition.

According to his co-organiser and his childhood coach Issah, Besh was known by people for his strictness and discipline that enabled him to earn the various achievements in his life.

“Besh was one of the most determined people I know having coached him from an early age at Umeme Bees where he used to play with only one shoe which served as a motivation to other players around him” Said coach Issah

Through hard work and discipline Besh was able to play for teams like Umeme Bees, Intercontinental Hotel, Utalii and Two Fishes which led him to earn a call up for the national team Harambee Stars under the late Reinhardt Fabisch.

Until his untimely death Besh was also the communication manager at The Kenya Footballers Welfare Association.

The tournament is still ongoing with this year’s edition been dedicated to him.

In Group D matches Bundes earned victory in a match that was played in a chilly morning after they led lethal attacks at FC Bundes defence with Clinton Obasanjo scoring the first goal in the 31st minute and Kelvin Isanya adding a second after just a few seconds through a tapping from a corner.

David Otieno scored a consolation goal for Napoli in the 91st minute after there was a collision with the goalkeeper.

In the last match of the day Young Achievers and Victors Faith played out an entertaining match that was even with both teams terrorizing the defence until Young Achievers were able to secure their winning goal through Brian Fero in the 54th minute.

This year’s edition is in honour of the Stephen Ogos.
