Meltah Kabiria’s Dalton Musa (R) attempts a takes on MASA catpain Kevin Liyala during a past SPS8 PL tie at Nyayo Stadium. MASA face Macmillan in the highlight match of the weekend on Saturday 27 May at Makongeni grounds.

Week 13 of the Sportpesa Super 8 Premier League is scheduled to kick-off on Saturday 27 May with a slate of eight enticing fixtures lined up to ignite the last weekend of the month across various places within Nairobi city.

A top of the table clash between leaders Kawangware United and second placed champions Kayole Asubuhi is what will carry extra weight in this round of matches which will see third placed challengers Jericho FC aiming to capitalise on any slip ups of Asubuhi to claim second spot with a win over newbies Zamalek FC who are just a point below.

However, the collision between East Conference sides MASA and Macmillan at Makongeni grounds will be the highlight of the week.

KAYOLE ASUBUHI FC VS KAWANGWARE UNITED (3PM)

Reigning champions Kayole Asubuhi FC will cross swords with league leaders Kawangware United in a tricky top of the table clash at Calvary grounds in Kayole.

Kayole who sit second on the log with 25 points will be angling to stop Kawangware from laying more ground at the top of the 16-team pile where they are sitting lofty with a healthy seven point lead on 31 points.

Asubuhi’s title defence suffered a setback last weekend following a 2-1 loss at the hands of TUK FC and will be keen to rebound from the shocking defeat, their third of a campaign they have won eight of their 12 matches while drawing only once which was a 1-1 stalemate with Metro Sports FC four weeks ago.

Prior to their previous defeat against TUK, the Isaiah Omondi coached champions had posted three straight wins including a controversial 2-0 win over Meltah Kabiria FC in week 11 and before that they had demolished Ajax Youth FC 6-1 away and Kiambiu Youth FC 3-0.

A win for the defending champions will see them reduce the gap at the gap to three points and their coach Isaiah Omondi acknowledges the high hurdle ahead of them.

“Right now the competition is getting tougher each game week, if you make a simple mistake you are punished and that is what happened to us last weekend. We are trying to mend our mistakes in the last game, so I cannot say we’ll win (against Kawangware) however I know this is a big game, they are on form and I know it won’t be easy to bring them down so this it could go either way however win is what we are aiming.” Omondi said.

Unbeaten in their last three games, Kawangware head into this match as revering favourites following their recent rich vein of form which has seen the Dagoretti based club post 10 wins in 12 matches having only lost once a 0-1 defeat against Meltah Kabiria.

The Francis Thairu charges who are chasing their first  Super 8 League trophy have performed consistently well in their recent matches beating Kabete United 2-1 last time out and before that they hit both MASA and Kiambiu Youth FC 2-0 and 2-1 in that order.

“Although we expect a tough opposition, we are not going to change anything in the team or our tactical approach. Our training has been great and I don’t see any major threat against Kayole, we have a six point lead so there is no need to worry but that does not mean we will not be looking for a win, we want to take as many points as we can.”  Thairu said.

MASA VS MACMILLAN FC (3PM)

At Makongeni Sports grounds, home side Makongeni Sports Association (MASA) who sit 6th on 20 points invite neighbours and struggling new comers Macmillan FC for the headline match of the weekend.

In their last three games, MASA, under tutelage of coach Hassan Andale have won only once which was last weekend decisive 4-1 home win over under-performing Ajax Youth FC and will be looking for a win to keep up with the momentum. They have won 6, drawn twice and lost four games and a win will bring them within sight of the top four.

Macmillan on the other hand are having a horror flight experience. The Joseph Ochieng led side have only manage one win in 12 games having conceded a whopping 26 goals this far into the season and sit on the danger zone at 14th with 7 points.

OLE RONGAI VS TEAM UMEME (3PM)

Elsewhere at Nazareen grounds in Rongai, second from bottom Ole Rongai FC will be at home searching deeply for their second win of the season when they invite limping newbies Team Umeme. With a meagre six points so far from a single win and three draws, Rongai who won the most disciplined team in last season’s end of year awards will be desperate to turn their discipline into tangible results to turn around their dwindling fortunes. 11TH placed Umeme fresh from a 1-6 humiliation by Jericho FC and will be looking to recover from the embarrassing defeat.

KIAMBIU YOUTH FC VS MELTAH KABIRIA FC (3PM)

Fresh from a morale boosting 3-1 win over Metro Sports FC, Kiambiu Youth FC will seek inspiration from their last game performance to floor West Conference side Melath Kabiria FC when the two sides clash at Jericho grounds. Kiambiu sit 13th on 10 points while Meltah who are three spots up at 10th with 14 points will be looking their second win on the trot.
AJAX YOUTH FC VS NYSA (3PM)

Fourth placed NYSA with 24 points will be aiming stretch their unbeaten streak to six matches and to leap frog Jericho FC into the third spot with a win against hosts bottomed placed Ajax Youth FC at Nakeel grounds. Ajax are languishing at the tail end of the log with a mere six points but on inferior goal difference as they share points with Ole Rongai and have a daunting task ahead of them.

ZAMALEK FC VS JERICHO FC (4PM)

Debutants Zamalek FC currently placed 4th on 23 points, just one shy of the top four will be at home at Drive Inn grounds seeking to extend their consistent form when they engage Jericho FC. Jericho are on a four game winning streak and made a feast out of other debutants Team Umeme in a 6-1 rout in their last game and will be  looking to replicate their earlier performance but face a difficult task against Zamalek who have already proved to be equal to task.

TUK FC VS KABETE UNITED (3PM)

TUK FC will be at home seek seeking to follow up their impressive 2-1 win over Kayole Asubuhi in their last fixture when they take on visiting Peter Opiyo’s Kabete United at CID Grounds.

The former champions are sitting 8th on 16 points after collecting four wins and four draws so far and a win will see them trade places with Kabete who are just above them on 18 points.

METRO SPORTS FC VS SHAURI MOYO BLUE STARS FC (2 PM)

Ezekiel Akwana will be leading his Metro Sports FC side at home against Shauri Moyo Blue Stars FC needing to stich up a resuscitation formula for the East Conference side who were spanked 3-1 by Kiambiu Youth FC in their last game to sit 9th with 15 points.

They will be up against Blue Stars who are under par this season having surrendered five wins already in 12 games while winning three only to lie 12th on 13 points and a win will be vital for the East Conference charges.
