Police have arrested 23 bodaboda operators connected with the burning of the matatu belonging to the Ongata Rongai Line Sacco on Saturday.
Police Spokesman George Kinoti says the 23 bodaboda operators will be arraigned in court as soon as the investigations are complete.
In a statement, Kinoti further condemned the state of lawlessness among bodaboda riders who often take the law into their hands and molest other road users including pedestrians.
“We have noted with grave concern that some bodaboda riders have developed a tendancy of quickly mobilizing their members whenever an incident involving one of them happens and they proceed to harass members of the public and even destory property like the incident in Nairobi yesterday. We wish to warn that this manner of hooliganism disregarding road traffic laws as other penal code laws will not be tolerated.” Said Kinoti.
Kinoti says other suspects are being sought for arrest with the aim of bringing justice to the aaggrieved.
He has further instructed all officers to to deal firmly with all law breakers including gangs pretending to be boda boda riders.
