A section of teachers in Nairobi have expressed mixed reactions over the recently upgrading system introduced in the teacher’s policy framework.
According to teachers policy of framework for education aimed at aligning education and training to the Constitution of Kenya, teachers upgrading will now hinge on meeting performance targets as set by their employers, contrary to their level of education as it was before.
However the Kenya National Union of Teachers KNUT, Kenya Primary School Head Teachers Association KEPSHA and teachers on the ground have criticized the policy terming it as unfair to the teachers.
Teachers are however calling on the government to also recognize the professional certificates they have attained from their various learning institutions.
