The World Football Governing body FIFA has accepted the suspension of top Football Kenya Federation-FKF Officials Vice Chairman Sammy Sholei and Nairobi branch chairman Dan Shikanda.
In a letter signed by FIFA’s Secretary General Jerome Valcke, FIFA says; “We have taken note that the National Executive Committee of the FKF has apparently passed a resolution indefinitely suspending Vice Chairman Sammy Sholei and Nairobi branch chairman Daniel Akala Shikanda from all football related activities in the Republic of Kenya. “ Valcke said.
“Nevertheless and since the stated suspension concerns FKF officials, our services deemed it pertinent to remind you that according to the Constitution, the National Executive Committee may dismiss a person or body provisionally.”
“However, a justified motion for the definite suspension of the person or body must be submitted to the next FKF General Meeting for ratification, at which, the person or body in question has to be granted the right to speak in his or its own defense.” The letter explained.
With the suspension having come a few days after the FKF Special General Meeting, then it is expected that the matter could be discussed during the next FKF Special General Meeting and the two could wait until next year before their fate is known.
The Duo was suspended after they took a case to court to seeking to stop the federation’s Special General Meeting (SGM) that’s passed a new constitution.
