I thought that Kenya lacked talent in soccer. The world cup villages have proved my assumptions false. We have household names, Mariga, Oliech etc who represent the men but what about our women ? Where are they ? I got a chance to visit Korogocho in Nairobi for the screening of one of the matches in Ghetto Radio's World Cup villages and was shocked and disgusted by what I saw and heard Its was not the poor performance of our African teams. This was trival in comparison to the narrations I heard from young girls who have a dream of playing soccer, but have been hindered by different social and economic factors that have made soccer just but a dream to a majority of women. Issues of sexual harassment, parent brutality are just but a tip of the iceberg. We shall compile all the audio and video clips of the screening, but if you have some time join us at the World Cup villages Comments (1)
